Extract of the speech of Mrs. Danièle Auffray, Adjointe au Maire de Paris, in charge of the City’s New Technologies and Research department presents the Digital Public Spaces (DPS).
The Paris City Hall has developed, in 2001, the concept of Digital Public Spaces in order to ensure a minimum knowledge of multimedia techniques to the users: Internet initiation, website creation as well as teaching software application and some programming. There are several such Public Spaces in existence so far situated in community centres. Also were activated, which function similarly to the Public Spaces but are situation in different animation centres. The service is free and open to people of all ages.
