Simon Lavin is a qualified marketeer by background, with a broad experience gained in a range of sectors including telecommunications, hotel and leisure, IT, Defence systems, marketing consultancy and not for profit organisations. In addition to marketing, Simon has undertaken product planning, and business development roles in these organisations.
Latterly Simon has spent six years at the Welsh Development Agency and the Welsh Assembly Government.
His current role is in the e-Business Unit within the Innovation Division, at the Welsh Assembly Government. Simon is responsible for the Planning and Development of e-business initiatives and the support of 5 existing ICT business support programmes (marketing, customer engagement and intelligence). He is also responsible for e-Business Policy.
In the newly merged organisation, (WDA and Welsh Assembly Government), Simon is striving to establish and contextualise the function of E-Business, within the new structure, operations, policy and strategy framework of the wider economic development function .
Simon is on the Board of the European Regional Information Society Association (ERISA) and the Vice Chair of the All Wales e-Crime Steering Group.
